Snapdragon Summit 2026: Memory price burden could last for several quarters or longer
Qualcomm is looking for ways to reduce cost pressure on Snapdragon PCs as memory prices rise, as agentic AI on PCs requires a certain amount of DRAM and storage. Nitin Kumar, Qualcomm vice president of product management, said the outlook for memory prices is hard to predict and the burden could last for several quarters or longer. Qualcomm chip-based Microsoft Surface PCs show 80 percent faster local AI inference
Qualcomm presented agentic AI as the direction for its Snapdragon X2 series at Snapdragon Summit 2026 in Maui, Hawaii. Microsoft unveiled a 12-inch Surface Pro and a 13-inch Surface Laptop powered by Snapdragon X2 Plus. Qualcomm said local AI inference is 80 percent faster than the previous generation and GPU performance is up to 55 percent higher. The company also highlighted more operating systems, software demos and wider retail and enterprise adoption.

PC DRAM price rise slows, demand broadening in focus
Global PC shipments rose 4 percent in the first quarter from a year earlier, defying expectations of weakening demand, as suppliers and distributors built inventory ahead of higher memory costs, Gartner said. While PC DRAM prices are still climbing, the pace of increases is easing, IBK Investment & Securities said. Intel and AMD are expanding AI PC lineups, while premium monitor displays are gaining traction, adding to focus on second-half demand.
