Samsung Display develops technology with Intel to cut laptop power use by 22 percent
Samsung Display said on Jan. 7 it has developed SmartPower HDR with Intel, a technology that cuts OLED emission power consumption in laptop HDR mode by as much as 22 percent. The method varies driving voltage depending on content, addressing fixed-voltage HDR modes that can waste power in low-demand use such as web browsing and document work. The companies said it analyzes peak brightness per frame on the laptop SoC and adjusts voltage via the T-CON.
