Science, ICT and Broadcasting committee adopts hearing report on Go Gwang-heon nominee
South Korea\'s National Assembly Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee adopted a hearing report on Go Gwang-heon (고광헌), nominee for the first chair of the Broadcast Media Communications Review Commission. The report was approved under the leadership of the Democratic Party after People Power Party lawmakers did not take part in the vote. The report will be sent to the government without a plenary vote. Go will take office if President Lee Jae-myung approves it.

Ko Kwang-heon nominee vows to restore consensus at media and communications watchdog
Ko Kwang-heon (고광헌), nominee to lead the Broadcast Media Communications Deliberation Committee, said he would revive the spirit of consensus and build a panel focused on communication. He said sanctions issued under former chief Ryu Hee-rim resulted in 30 straight court defeats because a minority made decisions after selecting agendas arbitrarily. Ko also pledged to address about 170,000 pending telecommunications cases and listed operating principles including minimal regulation and zero tolerance for digital sex crimes.

Broadcast media, telecom deliberation committee elects Ko Gwang-heon as chair nominee
South Korea’s Broadcast Media and Telecommunications Deliberation Committee held its first regular meeting on March 12 and chose Ko Gwang-heon as chair nominee and Kim Min-jung as vice chair. The panel will move to form an Election Broadcasting Deliberation Committee for the June 3 local elections after a delay of more than a month. It also aims to restart broadcast and telecommunications deliberations halted for nine months, with about 207,000 cases pending.
