Anthropic expands access to Mythos5-based cybersecurity capabilities in Claude

Anthropic is expanding access to cybersecurity capabilities based on Claude Mythos5, SecurityWeek reported on Aug. 24. The move builds on the Glasswing project launched in April and aims to limit direct access to Mythos-class models while increasing the defensive outputs available to defenders. Anthropic is integrating Mythos5 into security operations, incident response and detection tools and has begun using it for code scanning in Claude Security beta for Claude Enterprise customers.

Fortinet to acquire AI security firm Virtue AI, securing real-time runtime guardrails technology

Fortinet will acquire AI security company Virtue AI, SecurityWeek reported on Aug. 18. Virtue AI provides an enterprise security and governance platform for AI models, conversational applications and autonomous agents, supporting automated testing, real-time protection and compliance management. It uses more than 100 attack algorithms and hundreds of attack vectors to identify vulnerabilities and simulates corporate scenarios to assess agent tools, system access and multi-step execution flows.

Ruby on Rails patches critical CVSS 9.5 flaw, urges update

Ruby-based web development framework Ruby on Rails has released a patch for a serious vulnerability that could allow unauthenticated attackers to execute remote code, SecurityWeek reported. The flaw, tracked as CVE-2026-66066 and rated 9.5 on the CVSS scale, involves arbitrary file reads that could expose secrets and enable lateral movement. Administrators urged users to update affected Active Storage versions and raise libvips to at least 8.13.
