Household loan cap raised to 3 percent; scraping to be phased down
South Korea’s financial authorities loosened parts of their household loan management stance by raising this year’s lending growth target to 3 percent from 1.5 percent and planning 47.8 trillion won-plus in housing supply finance support. The move is expected to expand banks’ annual capacity for household loans to around 60 trillion won. Authorities also agreed not to block scraping all at once, opting to phase it down while preparing alternatives such as public MyData.

FTC seeks views on Dunamu-Naver Financial combination; securities industry warns of entry barriers
South Korea\'s Fair Trade Commission is collecting views from major securities firms during its review of a business combination between Dunamu and Naver Financial. The watchdog asked 18 brokerages to submit opinions by the end of this month, the financial investment industry said. Concerns include higher entry barriers if simple payments, digital-asset trading and unlisted-share brokerage are combined on one platform, and whether integrated data could create hard-to-match competitive advantages.

Securities firms\' issuing-notes market grows, but Samsung and Meritz approval still unclear
South Korea\'s securities firms are stepping up rate competition as the issuing-notes market grows to 54 trillion won. Hana Securities and NH Investment & Securities raised rates after newer entrants increased returns. Sales of promotional products by Hana, Shinhan Investment Corp and Kiwoom Securities sold out quickly. Despite the market\'s rapid expansion, regulatory reviews of issuing-notes approvals for Samsung Securities and Meritz Securities have not been concluded.
