LG Uplus security review gains pace amid IMSI concerns
Security concerns have been raised by some over how LG Uplus assigns subscriber identity numbers, prompting moves to review industry security systems and improve rules. The carrier has used a method combining phone numbers when assigning IMSI since 2011 and did not apply separate randomisation, raising the possibility of identifying a user’s location if IMSI values are captured. LG Uplus plans to overhaul SIM security and begin SIM replacement and resets for all customers from April 13.
