Sega drops big new \'Super Game\' plan after 5 years as live-service titles struggle
Sega has cancelled its large-scale \'Super Game\' project unveiled 5 years ago, according to its fiscal 2026 results materials. The company cited weak performance in free-to-play and live-service titles such as Sonic Rumble Party and also mentioned the financial burden at Rovio, maker of Angry Birds. Sega had planned to invest about $880 million and target a March 2026 launch. It has moved more than 100 staff and is refocusing on key IP and film projects.

Tether unveils consumer self-custody wallet supporting USDT and bitcoin transfers
Tether has launched a self-custody wallet, Tether Wallet, that supports USDT, bitcoin and tokenised gold. The company said it aims to reach billions of users excluded from the traditional financial system and to put payment infrastructure directly in users’ hands. The wallet supports a limited set of assets and lets users send funds via human-readable identifiers. It also lets users pay fees with the transferred asset and runs on multiple networks including Ethereum and Bitcoin Lightning.

Tether plans to hire 150 over next 18 months as expansion accelerates
Tether is accelerating global expansion by deploying profits from its stablecoin business into talent recruitment, technology development and strategic investments. It has raised its workforce to 300 and plans to hire 150 more people over the next 18 months, mainly engineers, while also filling non-engineering roles. The push comes alongside rising USDT adoption and a jump in market value from $140 billion to $185 billion over the past year.
