Meta faces class action lawsuit over ignored copyright complaints
A storm chaser group filed a class action lawsuit against Meta Platforms, alleging it failed to properly address repeated copyright infringement on Facebook and Instagram. The plaintiffs said they submitted hundreds of Digital Millennium Copyright Act takedown requests but Meta ignored them or handled them improperly. They said storm and tornado videos were frequently copied without permission and that harm was particularly severe on Facebook. Plaintiffs cited internal documents and said damages could reach millions of dollars.
