Most users who cancel annual app subscriptions do not return, with reactivation at 5%, a report on subscription apps in 2026 found. Cancellations were concentrated early, including on the first day of free trials. For annual plans, 35% of cancellations occurred within the first month, with shopping apps showing the fastest churn. Yet annual subscriptions recorded an overall renewal rate of 83.4%, and retention rose with each successive renewal.
