U.S. SEC revises crypto custody rules, clarifies safekeeping standards

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has submitted to the White House Office of Management and Budget a revised rule on cryptocurrency custody for investment advisers and investment companies. The proposal would remove parts of the existing custody framework while setting clearer standards for holding crypto assets. The SEC filed it on Aug. 25 and details are expected after OMB review, followed by a vote and more than 60 days of public comment.
