OpenAI launches ChatGPT for Teens with stronger age-tailored guardrails
OpenAI said on Aug. 19 it will launch ChatGPT for Teens, applying age-appropriate learning and safety features by default. The system switches users to the teen environment if it estimates they are under 18 or if they state they are 13 to 17. The product strengthens safeguards in high-risk areas and limits emotional dependency prompts. It also adds study tools, break reminders and parental controls, including quiet hours and alerts in limited high-risk situations.
