Chipmakers\' big two capacity expansion boosts equipment orders
South Korea’s two leading chipmakers are announcing new investments that are expected to drive equipment demand. SK Hynix plans a 19 trillion won advanced packaging facility in Cheongju, targeting completion in 2027. Samsung Electronics is expanding 1c DRAM production at its Pyeongtaek P4 plant and aims to secure more than 140K capacity by end-2026. Equipment firms such as Jusung and Shinsung E&G have confirmed orders, while brokerages expect memory capex to rise in 2026.
