Vitalik Buterin says 2026 should be year to reclaim digital self-sovereignty
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin (비탈릭 부테린) said 2026 should be made the year to reclaim “computational self-sovereignty.” He said the shift should apply beyond the blockchain industry and across digital society, and stressed the need to reduce how much data is entrusted to centralised services. He said he increased use of decentralised tools from 2025, replaced Google Maps and Gmail in 2026, and noted ongoing obstacles in local LLM experiments.
