Naver Q2 operating profit down 0.2 percent on expanded AI infrastructure investment

Naver said second-quarter revenue rose 16.2 percent from a year earlier to 3.39 trillion won, while operating profit fell 0.2 percent to 520.3 billion won, reflecting expanded investment in AI infrastructure. Naver Platform sales increased on advertising and service revenue growth. Financial Platform revenue rose, with Npay payment volume climbing to 25.2 trillion won. Naver grapples with pricing in AI investment ahead of monetisation

Naver’s first-quarter revenue rose 16.3 percent from a year earlier, but operating profit grew 7.2 percent as AI infrastructure investment and content procurement costs were incurred first. Its operating margin fell to 16.7 percent from 19.1 percent in the previous quarter. Infrastructure costs rose 32.5 percent and partner and marketing expenses also increased. Naver plans to step up AI advertising monetisation from the second half.

Naver Q1 operating profit rises 7.2 percent as AI, C2C drive results

Naver posted record first-quarter results, helped by the application of artificial intelligence technology and the expansion of its global consumer-to-consumer ecosystem. The company said quarterly revenue rose 16.3 percent from a year earlier to 3.24 trillion won and operating profit increased 7.2 percent to 541.8 billion won. Naver also revised its revenue categories from the first quarter, and said C2C and enterprise businesses supported growth.
