Reporters who asked what a terminal was become builders in 4 weeks by trying vibe coding
Seven journalists gathered in Seoul on March 17 to present mini projects built over four weeks at a runnerthon run by vibe-coding startup Popup Studio. Most had never opened a terminal. Using natural-language prompts, they created tools including a card-news generator, a health app and a Telegram bot that sends procurement award results from 22 agencies under the Ministry of Science and ICT. The session stressed structured context engineering and document-based coding.

Popup Studio, GPTERS to hold CTO workshop on building an AI-led 10X development organization
Popup Studio, a developer of a vibe coding framework, said it will run a four-week intensive workshop with domestic AI community GPTERS to help development organizations lift productivity by more than tenfold using AI. The workshop focuses on establishing structures and documentation standards so AI can understand and run code, and on building an operating system to resolve bottlenecks. It will be held in a hybrid online-offline format from Jan. 31.

Chinese AI firms step up push as Korea sovereign foundation model drive enters new phase
Chinese tech firms are accelerating expansion in the AI market, with Baidu’s Ernie Assistant topping 200 million monthly active users and Kuaishou’s Kling AI reporting 12 million users and more than $20 million in monthly revenue. Alibaba unveiled a major update to its Qwen app. Startups also pressed ahead, including DeepSeek and Moonshot AI. In South Korea, a government-led foundation model project advanced three teams to the next stage and plans an additional selection.
