Naver Map launches \'Place Agent\' to find and book places through chat
Naver has added a conversational place-search feature to its map app, allowing users to find locations in natural language and proceed to reservations. The company said it launched the AI-based feature, called Place Agent, on Sept. 17. The tool recommends venues based on the user’s conversation context and location, uses place and review information, supports follow-up questions to narrow choices, and enables bookings for locations that support Naver Reservation.

Kakao is expanding AI commerce experiments inside KakaoTalk, aiming to keep users within the app from recommendation and search to booking and payment. The company has added a “Special Friend” gift feature and strengthened the “Kanana” place agent to broaden recommendations and enable reservations. Analysts say monetisation depends on whether recommendations translate into completed transactions and payments within KakaoTalk, not just feature launches.
