97 percent of U.S. companies still use databases past end of support
Most U.S. companies continue to run database software versions that are no longer officially supported, a survey showed. Percona’s poll of 300 U.S. database administrators, site reliability engineers and platform engineers found 97 percent said their organisations operate at least some end-of-support database versions. Respondents cited upgrade complexity, the need to check applications and infrastructure, and cost pressures such as cloud and licensing costs. Risks include missing security patches and performance issues.
