Woori Bank arranges $825 million refinancing for Ohio power plant
Woori Bank said on Saturday it completed arranging $825 million in refinancing for a 950-megawatt gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in Trumbull County, Ohio. Korea Southern Power, the Korea Overseas Infrastructure and Urban Development Corp (KIND) and Siemens Energy participated as joint investors. The bank oversaw a financing structure transition in line with the plant’s operating schedule. It is located within the PJM power market region.

Market design, policy seen as main drivers of power price rises, not AI data centres
A debate is intensifying over data-centre power costs as electricity prices surge alongside expanding AI infrastructure. Semiconductor research firm SemiAnalysis said in a report that market design and policy decisions, rather than data centres, are the main causes of rising power prices, CNBC reported. The report cited PJM Interconnection’s Base Residual Auction as driving sharp increases, while power costs have remained stable in the ERCOT region despite data-centre growth.

U.S. government seeks to make Big Tech share data center power costs
The Trump administration and 13 U.S. state governors are pursuing a plan to have private Big Tech companies share the cost of building power plants to ease data center electricity shortages. The White House asked PJM Interconnection to hold an emergency auction. Data center operators would pre-contract power for 15 years and bear costs for new generation. The deal is expected to be at least $15 billion.
