OpenStack releases 2026.1 \'Gazpacho\' with focus on VMware replacement, simpler operations
The OpenStack community has released OpenStack 2026.1 Gazpacho, focusing on simplifying operations, live migration of VMware workloads and greater hardware flexibility. Techzine reported that responding to demand for VMware alternatives is a key part of the update. It said the release follows Dalmatian, introduced after Broadcom acquired VMware to absorb demand from users moving away. Gazpacho also adopts SLURP, allowing operators to upgrade once a year.
