More financial firms to face margin rules for non-cleared OTC derivatives from September
South Korea\'s Financial Supervisory Service will extend its guidelines on the margin exchange system for non-cleared over-the-counter derivatives transactions. From September, the number of firms subject to initial margin requirements will rise to 143 from 138, while those covered by variation margin requirements will increase to 165 from 163. The guidelines will be extended for one year. The FSS said it will keep checking compliance and gather difficulties financial firms face.

Korea Exchange, Nextrade to close on local election day and Constitution Day
The Korea Exchange and alternative trading platform Nextrade will close their markets on June 3 and July 17 after the government designated local election day and Constitution Day as public holidays. The Korea Exchange said the shutdown covers securities, derivatives and general commodities markets, including night trading. Oil, gold and emissions markets will also close, along with certain OTC derivatives clearing and its trade repository. Trading on the alternative venue will also be halted.

XRP has become a “hyper-liquid” asset in the cryptocurrency market, and only 1 percent of investors understand it, an analysis said. XRP commentator Mason Versluis wrote “XRP = hyper liquid,” drawing an immediate market response. Some see XRP as central to institutional liquidity and a link between traditional finance and digital assets. Attention has also focused on Hyperliquid’s rapid growth, with daily trading topping $1.2 billion as WTI futures volume surged.
