Supreme Court says Naver video search penalty must be fully cancelled
The Supreme Court ruled that fines and corrective orders imposed on Naver for allegedly distorting video search results should be cancelled. It overturned a lower court’s view that giving extra weight to NaverTV videos was an unfair customer inducement. The court said Naver could design search algorithms based on its own business strategy and that assigning extra weight to certain videos did not constitute deception or meet the threshold for unfair inducement. It returned the case to the Seoul High Court.
