LG Uplus expands AI road hazard monitoring system to Yongin
LG Uplus said on May 11 it expanded application of a control system combining RTK high-precision positioning and AI in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, with road management solutions firm MillieWay. The system installs RTK and AI video monitoring devices on city buses and government vehicles to detect and analyse potholes and road surface damage in real time. From April last year to February, it detected about 3,200 road hazards.

High oil price relief payments to start April 27, up to 600,000 won for vulnerable groups
South Korea\'s Interior and Safety Ministry said first-round payments of relief funds for damage from high oil prices will begin on April 27. Eligible recipients include basic livelihood beneficiaries, near-poverty groups and single-parent families. Payments are 550,000 won or 450,000 won per person, with an additional 50,000 won for non-capital residents or people in depopulation areas. Applications run from April 27 to May 8 online and offline, with a weekday system in the first week to reduce congestion.

Can AI deliver a public service UX revolution in South Korea?
South Korea’s public digital services are rated among the world’s best, but their usability has drawn criticism compared with private-sector services. The government is pushing a public-sector AX strategy under the National AI Strategy Committee to improve services for the public. The Interior Ministry plans an AI-based integrated civil-complaint platform and is building AI Government24 and other AI service projects. Officials say cross-ministry cooperation will be decisive for success.
