U.S. CFTC steps up crackdown on insider trading in prediction markets
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, which oversees prediction markets, is accelerating enforcement against insider trading, including tracking traders who use VPNs to access overseas platforms such as Polymarket from the United States. Chairman Michael Selig said the agency would find violators and take action. The CFTC is hiring staff and deploying AI automation tools to analyze patterns and detect potential manipulation, while also using external tools such as Chainalysis and Nasdaq SMART.
