AI for Everyone service to launch this year, led by SKT, KT and Kakao

South Korea selected SK Telecom, KT and a Kakao consortium as operators for the nationwide “AI for Everyone” project, the science ministry said on Thursday. The consortiums will use their lead organisations’ strengths to launch public-facing AI services this year. Evaluations reviewed model and service competitiveness, GPU use and infrastructure plans, plus convenience, user acquisition strategies, quality and safety. The ministry plans contracts in September, a beta service and formal launch this year.

Motif trails LG AI Institute by 3.2 points in Korea independent AI foundation model project review

Motif Technologies, which was eliminated in the second-stage review of the government’s independent AI foundation model project, trailed third-ranked LG AI Institute by 3.2 points overall. Motif topped the benchmark evaluation among four teams but fell behind in expert and user evaluations, finishing fourth. The Ministry of Science and ICT disclosed detailed scores on Aug. 27, shortly after Motif filed a formal objection and requested score disclosure and a re-review.

Motif appeals Dokpamo second-stage evaluation, seeks detailed scores and review

Motif Technologies filed a formal objection to the government’s Dokpamo project second-stage evaluation results and asked the Ministry of Science and ICT to disclose itemised scores and criteria and to conduct a review. The company said its Motif 3 model scored 47 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index but was eliminated with the lowest score in the second evaluation. Motif said it will not participate in the third-stage evaluation.
