Motif Technologies said on Aug. 11 it will offer its self-developed large language model (LLM) "Motif-2-12.7B (Motif 2)" through Microsoft Marketplace.

Microsoft Marketplace is an online platform where users can search for and adopt cloud solutions, AI applications and agents.

Corporate customers can select Motif 2 on the marketplace and create an API endpoint in a Microsoft Azure infrastructure environment for use in generative AI services. They can deploy and manage the model in an existing Azure environment without building separate infrastructure, and can also link costs to existing Microsoft contracting and purchasing procedures.

Motif 2 is an inference-focused LLM with 12.7 billion parameters that Motif Technologies built in-house from model design through data training. It was released as open source in November last year and focused on math problem solving, code generation, logical reasoning, instruction following and using agent tools.

Motif Technologies also recently completed development of a follow-on model, "Motif 3", and submitted it for the second evaluation of the government's "Independent AI Foundation Model Project".

Motif 3 is a foundation model with 314 billion parameters. A beta version released in late July ranked tied for 11th globally and tied for third among open-source models on the AI model evaluation agency Artificial Analysis' overall performance index (AAII). The company plans to release a technical report and the final model as open source in line with the Dokpamo review schedule.

Motif Technologies plans to use the marketplace listing as a chance to expand model supply to global Azure customers and support the adoption of generative AI by industry.

Lim Jeong-hwan (임정환), chief executive of Motif Technologies, said, "This Microsoft Marketplace listing is meaningful in that it lays the groundwork to expand points of contact with global customers for an independent AI model developed in Korea." He added, "We will continue to introduce models and services so that companies can use AI more easily."
