Nasdaq to buy remaining stake in Level Markets as it pursues 24-hour markets
Nasdaq has reached a final agreement to buy the remaining stake in Level Markets, the United States’ third-largest alternative trading system operator. Fintech Futures reported the acquisition is part of Nasdaq’s strategy to build always-on global market infrastructure. The closing date and purchase price were not disclosed. Level Markets runs an anonymous dark pool for institutional block trades. Nasdaq has also sought to extend trading hours for NMS stocks and ETPs to 23 hours a day, with implementation planned for early in the third quarter of 2026.

Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch join Nextrade as members
Morgan Stanley Securities and Merrill Lynch Securities have joined alternative trading venue Nextrade as members, Nextrade said. Nextrade approved membership for the firms\' Seoul branches on July 1. Morgan Stanley plans to complete its smart order routing system by November, while Merrill Lynch aims to finish system development this year and pursue participation across all markets after testing. Nextrade’s member brokerages have risen to 36.

Baron Capital to place $1 billion order in SpaceX IPO
Billionaire investor Ron Baron, chairman of Baron Capital, said he is confident SpaceX can become the planet’s biggest company. Appearing on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Baron said on May 13 he would place a $1 billion buy order for SpaceX shares at its initial public offering price and wants to buy more. Baron Capital has invested about $1.7 billion in SpaceX since 2017 and its position is about $15 billion.
