MSIT selects 4 \'top-tier\' international joint research projects
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT has selected four new international joint research projects involving domestic institutions and partners in the United States, Germany and Japan. The projects were chosen under the 2026 programme to build cooperation platforms among top-tier research institutes and support joint research. Each project will receive 2.3 billion won a year for 10 years. The ministry also supports four existing projects launched from 2024.

Science ministry hosts 2026 World Korean Scientists and Engineers Conference
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT held the 2026 World Korean Scientists and Engineers Conference on July 7 at the Korea Science and Technology Center in Seoul. The event, running through July 8, is hosted by the Korea Federation of Science and Technology Societies and 20 overseas Korean scientists and engineers associations. Sessions cover AI-driven shifts in science and technology and ways to expand global cooperation networks.

Hanwha supports German research institute tour for high school science competition winners
Hanwha Group said 10 winners of the 2025 Hanwha Science Challenge joined a six-night, eight-day overseas tour of research institutions in Germany. Students visited sites including Forschungszentrum Juelich, Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research and Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications. Hanwha said the contest began in 2011 and has drawn about 18,000 students over 14 years. The 2026 contest opens applications in March with 200 million won in prize money.
