FBI busts North Korean fake remote hiring network, dismantles laptop farms
North Korean IT workers stole or forged U.S. identities to win remote jobs at American companies and sent the proceeds to the North Korean regime, the FBI said. The FBI described the activity as an international crime threatening national security and launched a large crackdown. Authorities said workers used “laptop farms” in U.S. homes to appear to work locally. The Justice Department announced results of a Texas operation and related cases.
