Google makes strategic investment in Japan AI startup Sakana AI
Google has invested in Japan-based generative AI startup Sakana AI and signed a strategic partnership as it targets the Japanese market. Sakana AI said the investment was made at a valuation of $2.5 billion, the same as its recently announced funding round. The company did not disclose the amount invested. Sakana AI was founded in 2023 by former Google AI researcher David Ha and transformer co-author Llion Jones.
