Only 3 in 10 South Koreans use AI in consumer life, regional gaps also seen
Most consumers in South Korea say they are aware of artificial intelligence, but only about 3 in 10 use it in daily life or work, an analysis showed. The Korea Consumer Agency found 86.8% of respondents said they know AI, while 32.3% said they make important use of generative AI in consumption and work. AI purchase experience reached 75.3%, with lower use and purchase rates in Honam.

SKT refuses Korea consumer agency\'s 2.3 trillion won compensation plan
SK Telecom has declined to accept a mediation proposal by the Korea Consumer Agency\'s Consumer Dispute Mediation Commission over a personal data leak. Industry sources said the company notified the agency of its refusal on Friday, ending the mediation and leaving applicants to pursue separate civil lawsuits. The commission had approved compensation for 58 applicants including a 50,000 won fee discount and 50,000 T Plus points. Total compensation was estimated at 2.3 trillion won.

SKT files administrative lawsuit over 134.8 billion won fine for USIM hack
SK Telecom has filed an administrative lawsuit to overturn a 134.8 billion won fine imposed by South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission over a USIM hacking incident. The case was filed with the Seoul Administrative Court on Jan. 19, ahead of a Jan. 20 deadline. The watchdog also imposed a 9.6 million won penalty. In a separate process, SKT received a consumer dispute mediation decision calling for 100,000 won per applicant.
