Broadcast association says YouTube ordered to pay damages for unauthorised use of exit poll
South Korea’s broadcast association said it secured a 60 million won damages ruling against a YouTube channel that used 2024 parliamentary election exit poll results without permission. It said the decision affirms that the three terrestrial broadcasters hold the intellectual property rights to the data. The association criticised unauthorised citations by some outlets and said the ruling confirms such use violates the unfair competition law. It plans further legal action against media that breach citation rules for future elections.
