Japan tax agency launches new tax system, expands AI checks on crypto filings
Japan’s National Tax Agency has strengthened scrutiny of cryptocurrency transaction filings as it begins full operation of its next-generation tax system, KSK2. The system integrates individual and corporate data using My Number and corporate IDs and expands detection of false filings with AI. A tax accountant office said annual exchange reports, bank account inflow and outflow records and CRS data are key inputs. The agency is also reviewing web and social media posts and service usage histories.
