China fits first sodium-ion battery to mining truck, tests performance in extreme cold
Chinese equipment maker Tonly Heavy Industries and Hina Battery have put a sodium-ion battery-powered electric mining haul truck into service at a limestone mine in Tangshan, China. The K120E uses a 676 kWh Hai Xing series sodium-ion battery that the companies call the first of its kind on an electric mining truck. The battery is said to charge from 0 to 100 percent in minutes and deliver up to 8,000 charge-discharge cycles.
