Scientists study ways to break human lifespan ceiling stuck near 120 years
Scientists are focusing on technologies that could extend maximum human lifespan beyond 120 to 130 years, even as average life expectancy keeps rising. Longevity researcher Shmuel Rands said average life expectancy has increased sharply since the 19th century, but the longest verified lifespan has barely changed for decades. Firms are preparing or reporting early clinical work, including partial reprogramming trials and anti-aging drugs. Research collaborations are also expanding to study people aged 100 to 110.
