Japan finance minister to meet three megabanks to discuss risks from Anthropic\'s Mythos
Japan will hold a meeting involving the country\'s three megabanks and other senior financial officials to review potential risks from Anthropic\'s AI model Mythos. CoinPost reported that Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama will meet executives from Mitsubishi UFJ, Sumitomo Mitsui and Mizuho to share awareness of related risks. Attendance by BOJ Governor Kazuo Ueda and other industry leaders is being coordinated, and the Financial Services Agency proposed the meeting.

South Korea stock market cap overtakes Taiwan, rises to world No. 8
South Korea’s total stock market capitalisation has overtaken Taiwan after recently surpassing Germany, rising to eighth in the world, Korea Exchange data showed. Total market value for KOSPI, KOSDAQ and KONEX stood at 4,799.4 trillion won at Friday’s close, slightly above Taiwan’s 4,798.7 trillion won equivalent. The market has continued to rally this year, with KOSPI and KOSDAQ up 20.8 percent and 16.8 percent from end-2025, while brokers raise KOSPI targets.

Japan finance minister says 2026 will be the year of digital assets as integration with traditional finance accelerates
Japan is stepping up efforts to integrate digital assets with traditional finance. Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama said exchanges play a decisive role in widening public access to digital and blockchain-based assets and pledged government support for innovation. She cited U.S. crypto ETFs and said Japan could adopt a similar structure, though none exist domestically. Japan has discussed allowing banks to treat crypto like stocks or government bonds and approved a yen-linked stablecoin JPYC.
