Argentina banks pilot JPM Coin test for real-time settlement
Argentine banks are running a pilot test of JPMorgan’s deposit token, JPM Coin, to improve the efficiency of payment settlements, Cointelegraph reported on Monday citing local outlet iProUP. Argentina’s central bank bans banks from offering cryptocurrency services, but allows the use of crypto-based tools within internal infrastructure. Banco CMF is taking part through its newly launched corporate arm QORP, and other banks are considering joining.

CME Group partners with Google Cloud to develop tokenised cash
CME Group is collaborating with Google Cloud on a tokenised cash project, aiming for a 2026 launch. The Block reported the initiative is seen as a move to expand the crypto collateral market. CEO Terrence Duffy said CME plans to develop its own coin for use on decentralised networks. He said CME will scrutinise token issuers and risks, likely accepting tokens issued by systemically important financial institutions but rejecting tokens from low-trust banks.

JPMorgan is introducing its dollar deposit token, JPM Coin, on new blockchain infrastructure and plans to run it on the Canton network. Morgan Stanley has applied to U.S. regulators to launch bitcoin and Solana ETFs. Barclays and Bank of America have also expanded stablecoin and ETF efforts.
