AWS backs Fleming Initiative intelligence platform to tackle antimicrobial resistance
Amazon Web Services said on Thursday it will support a global intelligence platform aimed at tackling antimicrobial resistance under the Fleming Initiative led by Imperial College London and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. AWS will provide cloud and AI technology and technical support worth up to several million pounds. The initiative aims to connect globally distributed data, researchers, clinicians and public health officials and integrate AMR datasets to accelerate research and new discoveries.

Quantum Korea 2026 to bring global quantum technology together
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT will hold Quantum Korea 2026 from July 2 to 4 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul. The event will bring together governments, researchers and quantum companies to share technology and policy. Participants include 56 companies and institutions from 12 countries, such as IBM, IonQ, Quandela and PASQAL. Exhibits and talks will cover quantum computing, communications and sensing, alongside an international conference and public programmes.

KAIST names mechanical engineering professor Bae Choong-sik as 18th president
KAIST has appointed mechanical engineering professor Bae Choong-sik (배충식) as its next president. The university’s board made the decision at an extraordinary meeting on June 29 at KAIST’s Kim Jaechul AI Graduate School campus in Yangjae-dong, Seoul. Bae has worked in eco-friendly energy and carbon-neutral power engineering and has held several senior roles at KAIST. His appointment is subject to required ministerial consent and approval.
