Government urges security measures for 120,000 IP cameras, plans mandatory certification for key facilities
South Korea announced follow‑up steps to strengthen IP camera security after continued hacking cases. Authorities advised security measures for about 120,000 cameras exposed through simple passwords and will cooperate with telecom firms to identify users and urge password changes. The government will expand victim support, tighten investigations, improve operator guidance, and push laws mandating certified secure products in facilities such as hospitals and swimming pools. It also plans upgraded blocking of illegal sites and closer coordination with manufacturers.
