Sub-25,000 euro small EVs surge, speeding up mainstream adoption in Europe
Sales of low-priced electric vehicles under 25,000 euros in Europe are rising quickly, an analysis said, as EU car carbon dioxide rules push automakers to launch more small, mass-market models. T&E forecast sales in the price band would be seven times 2024 levels this year, while the number of models has doubled in two years. EU battery EV registrations rose 45 percent in January to August, and second-quarter share hit 22 percent.

Martin Sander, the company’s board member in charge of sales, marketing and aftersales, said consumers will ultimately accept that EVs are better than gasoline cars. He compared the shift to the transition from horses to cars, and said charging infrastructure, positive messaging and measures tied to energy prices are needed.
