Tesla Model 3 lesson: Musk acknowledges excessive automation

Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk has cited his past production automation strategy as a major mistake, saying the company tried to hand even simple tasks to robots. He acknowledged that automation at times hindered productivity, including during Tesla\'s 2018 Model 3 ramp-up when robots struggled with flexible trim and hose fitting in final assembly. Tesla is still pursuing mass production of its Optimus humanoid robot, with a target price of $25,000.
