Google Pixel phones boost AI, Gemini supports shopping and booking

Google is significantly expanding Gemini AI assistant features through a Pixel phone update, The Verge reported on Tuesday. Pixel 10 series users will be able to automate tasks such as grocery shopping and vehicle bookings, with the agentic feature rolling out first to some apps including Uber and Grubhub. The update also upgrades Circle to Search and Magic Cue, adds Comfort View to Pixel 10 devices, and brings new functions to Pixel 6 and later models.

Grubhub parent Wonder acquires restaurant rewards startup Claim

Wonder, the parent company of Grubhub, has acquired restaurant rewards app Claim, TechCrunch reported on Jan. 20. Founded in 2021, Claim helps users earn cashback rewards when dining at local restaurants or placing pickup orders. Restaurants can work with Claim to create promotions, increase visitor numbers and track performance via a dashboard. Deal terms were not disclosed. TechCrunch said Claim was valued at $62 million in an October 2024 Series A round.
