The Verge reported he made the remarks at the end of Google I/O 2026, calling it a significant moment for humanity. Google rolls out Gemini 3.5 Flash, Gemini 3.5 Pro set for next month
Google unveiled its next-generation AI model strategy for Gemini 3.5, rolling out Gemini 3.5 Flash first while planning to release Gemini 3.5 Pro next month. At its I/O 2026 developer event in California, Google made Flash the default model for the Gemini app and AI Search mode. The company said Flash targets a balance of speed, cost and performance, while Pro will handle deeper reasoning and longer context tasks.

Google Search gets biggest overhaul in 25 years as AI answers and acts instead of links
Google is shifting its search service from a list of links to a conversational AI interface. The overhaul redesigns the search box, in place for more than 25 years, to handle longer and more complex questions. Users can interact with AI based on their query, upload photos and videos, and ask follow-up questions from the main page. Google is adding agent features and a generative UI built with Gemini.
