KOCCA supports smaller Korean game makers\' China expansion at ChinaJoy

The Korea Creative Content Agency said it completed operations of the Korea pavilion at ChinaJoy 2026 in Shanghai, held from July 31 to Aug. 3, with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It supported booth demos and business meetings for 10 smaller Korean game developers. KOCCA said about 30,000 visitors attended over four days and 114 meetings were held with local buyers, generating export consultations worth about $12 million.

AI vibe coding spurs surge in mobile game releases, 180,000 launched in six months

Mobile game and app releases are rising quickly as AI coding tools spread, lowering barriers for individuals and small developers, analysis showed. Research firm ATTN Economy counted 181,000 smartphone games launched in the six months through May 2026, with iOS releases up 118 percent year on year and Android up 73 percent. Appfigures and Naavik reported similar growth in apps and new publishers, while revenue and downloads remained concentrated among large firms.

Microsoft nears unveiling next-generation Xbox UI, starts unifying console, PC and cloud

Microsoft has laid out more detailed plans for a next-generation Xbox user interface that spans consoles, PCs, handheld devices and cloud gaming. The company is moving to unify Xbox experiences that have been split across devices. Screens shown again in newly released Game Developers Conference footage suggest changes such as fewer ad slots on console and a design shift in the PC app toward the cloud gaming interface. Microsoft has not disclosed timing.
