Ripple wins UK regulatory approval to support stablecoin expansion
Ripple has obtained approval from the UK Financial Conduct Authority to operate as an electronic money institution, Cointelegraph reported on Jan. 9. The FCA registered Ripple’s UK subsidiary, Ripple Markets UK, as an electronic money institution and included it under money laundering regulations. Cointelegraph said the approval could be a turning point for issuance of Ripple USD. The FCA also imposed restrictions on certain services.
