Kenya struggles with Microsoft\'s large AI data centre plans over power demand
Microsoft\'s plan for a large data centre in Kenya has effectively hit a roadblock as it runs up against limits in the country\'s power infrastructure. The Kenyan government says the project, if it proceeds as planned, could place a serious burden on national grid operations. Discussions are shifting toward scaled-down alternatives, including a separate 60-megawatt facility, while the original Olkaria project, discussed at about $1 billion, is stalled over power capacity and transmission constraints.
