South Korea, U.S. expand cooperation in nuclear, high-energy fields, set up bilateral quantum panel
South Korea and the United States will expand cooperation in nuclear and high-energy physics, including joint research using major facilities, AI and quantum computing, South Korea\'s science ministry said. The two countries signed a statement of intent and plan to set up a bilateral quantum joint cooperation committee to support implementation. South Korea also reviewed progress on a technology prosperity memorandum and attended the opening of a Boston hub to support commercialisation of advanced bio technologies.

KT shares AX insights to spread entrepreneurship to future talent
KT shared entrepreneurship needed in the AI era and insights on AI transformation with future talent, it said. Park Sang-won (박상원), head of KT’s AX business division, delivered a special lecture on June 5 at the FKI Tower Conference Center in Yeouido, Seoul, as part of the Korea Enterprises Federation’s Elite Internship Course. The lecture targeted about 120 university students and included a Q&A session.

Focused Energy raises $240 million in Series A funding for laser fusion
German laser fusion company Focused Energy said on May 27 it has completed a $240 million Series A funding round, the largest such round in the global fusion industry. It said the financing makes it Europe’s highest-valued fusion company. RWE invested $60 million as a strategic investor and industrial partner. The funding will be used to develop a former RWE nuclear plant site in Biblis, Hesse, to build an industrial laser fusion power plant targeted for the mid-2030s.
