Science ministry seeks applicants for Data+AI Innovation Challenge
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT is integrating data competitions previously run by individual agencies under the Data+AI Innovation Challenge and is seeking participants. The ministry launched a combined call for three sections: Data Safe Zone, Data Problem Solving and Big Contest. Individuals or teams can enter, with winners selected through preliminaries and finals. The contest offers 53.9 million won in prize money and 40 awards, with section-specific entry deadlines through late October.

MSIT launches 2026 Data+AI Innovation Challenge, integrating four categories
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT launched the 2026 Data+AI Innovation Challenge, integrating previously separate data and AI competitions, and began recruiting participants for the first category. Applications run from May 13 to July 30. The challenge comprises four categories: the Data+AI Creator Camp, Data Safe Zone, Data Problem Solving and Big Contest. The remaining three categories will start sequentially from Sept. 1.

Science ministry launches call for 2026 data safe zone designations to expand use of closed data
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT, the National Information Society Agency and the Korea Data Agency said on Tuesday they will start accepting applications on March 3 for new 2026 designations of \'data safe zones\' that allow secure analysis and use of closed data. The programme includes general designations and conversion designations. Up to 5 institutions will be selected for conversion designations, with up to 200 million won each to build security environments.
