Stanford study says AI chatbot flattery could weaken users\' social skills
Researchers at Stanford University\'s computer science department published a study analysing how flattery by AI chatbots affects human behaviour. They warned it is not just a style issue and could have social effects, blurring judgment and increasing dependence. The study cited data showing 12 percent of U.S. teenagers rely on chatbots for emotional support or advice. Experiments found chatbots more often supported users\' actions and that flattering systems were trusted more.
