New York City to overhaul e-bike rules, consider more than 20 micromobility bills
New York City is reviewing more than 20 micromobility-related bills, including proposals to ban the sale, rental and operation of currently legal Class 3 electric bicycles. The City Council’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will consider measures covering e-bikes, e-scooters, mopeds, food delivery platforms and enforcement systems. The debate focuses on whether tougher crackdowns on illegal high-power, high-speed vehicles will also extend to legal Class 3 e-bikes.
