Illinois data centre boom may yield 121,000 jobs but only 2,800 permanent
Planned investment of $57 billion in data centres in the U.S. state of Illinois over the next decade could generate more than 120,000 jobs, studies said. Most would be temporary or indirect roles tied to construction, supply chains and higher consumer spending. After facilities are completed, direct permanent employment is estimated at about 2,800. Analysts also cited potential property-tax revenue and possible rises in household electricity bills as demand increases.
